Org. Setting and Reporting
The internship positions are located in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. The internship is for two (2) months from 3 January 2017 to 3 March 2017, with a possibility of extension, subject to the needs of the Department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Responsibilities
Interns will be responsible for the following duties: (a) translating into Arabic, which must be the candidates' main language, documents from one or more of the other official languages of the United Nations for training and other purposes and subject to review. The official languages are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish; (b) performing other related duties as required, including editing, terminological work, creation of translation memories.

Education

Work Experience
Professional experience is not required, but would be considered an asset.
Languages

Part-time Arabic Translator and Data Clerk Required in Los Angeles


We are a digital advertising analytics company looking for someone to assist in identifying Arabic Advertisers and Brands in our platform.
Please read the minimum qualification carefully before applying:

·         Only candidates that are fluent in reading and writing Arabic will be considered for the position.
·         This is a part time, telecommute contract position that requires a minimum commitment of 20 hours a week.

In the beginning (weeks 1-3), you would meet with the Data Project Manager in-person to receive instructions about our tools, processes, and methodologies. Description:
CAT III Linguists shall provide interpretation and translation services as required by the supported client.  Linguist will be required to transcribe and/or translate source material, both printed and audio; provide analysis and reporting of translated foreign language source material.
  • Provide foreign language support services, including transcription, and translation / interpretation (comprising idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression from English to the SCRL language(s) or vice versa).
  • Provide any and all cultural and ethnic context of translations, interpretations, and transcriptions with an expert linguist’s opinion given to the supported organization or agency as to the most likely meaning/intent of terms, phrases, or statements that may have multiple valid interpretations.
  • Perform document exploitation, scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents and intercepted data for key information; and must be able to supplement interpretations and translations with information pertinent and specific to professional fields; such as medicine, scientific, engineering, legal, etc. and identify and extract information components meeting military information requirement list criteria as well as provide input to reports.

Provide full, technically and linguistically accurate rendition of source materials. Source materials may contain legal, business, public administrative, medical, scientific, historical, financial, geographical and military terminology and concepts, including those dealing with technology as used in the sciences (chemical, physical, cyber, etc.).  The specialized terminology used to express concepts in any of the given subject areas vary considerably from everyday usage in any of the target or source languages in question.

 Interpreter

Essential Job Duties:
  • Provide the verbal rendering of speech from the target language and English and vice-versa.
  • Interpreters shall be proficient in performing simultaneous, consecutive, and escort interpretation defined as follows:
    • Simultaneous interpretation requires the interpreter to speak almost contemporaneously with the speaker whose words are being interpreted, without any pauses since both interpreter and speaker are talking at virtually the same time.
    • Consecutive interpretation requires pauses on the part of both the interpreter and the speaker: the speaker will utter a sentence, phrase or thought, and then the interpreter will usually signal for the speaker to pause so that the interpreter can translate what was just said.
    • Escort interpreting requires an interpreter to accompany a non-English-speaking visitor as he/she conducts official business with the U.S. Government.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in language interpretation (i.e. consecutive, simultaneous)
  • Specialized training in the interpreting field and/or extensive experience in court or legal environments

Education

A first level degree from a university. (Candidates for this position must have passed the United Nations Competitive Examination for Arabic Interpreter ).

Work Experience

A minimum of ten years of professional interpreting experience in international organizations, five of which would normally have been within the UN System or similar international organization is required. Relevant language experience within the UN System or in similar international organization may be taken into consideration in meeting the requirements of this post.

Languages

A perfect command of Arabic, normally expected to be the incumbent’s main language. Candidates must also possess a perfect command of English or French. Knowledge of other UN official languages would be an asset.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified applicants may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.

We are seeking government linguists, US citizens, to work as translators and consecutive interpreters in Northern VA. Linguists with the following languages in addition to English are needed: 
ARABIC, bilingual KURDISH, bilingual ARABIC and FRENCH, trilingual ARABIC and TURKISH, trilingual 
(1) Must be able to translate and perform consecutive interpretation between English and their langauge(s)(2) Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment that requires mobility and flexibility. (3) Expertise in a variety of topics ranging from technical to political and military vocabulary required. Understanding of a variety of dialects/jargon is a plus. (4) Translation work will require attention to detail and must meet high quality standards. (5) The ability to work well in a team setting is paramount. (6) Interpretation may include individual meetings or conference-type settings. (7) Must be willing to relocate to/reside in the Washington Metropolitan Area. (8) Linguists whose test results will be at the Primary level must be ready to travel overseas for short-term periods, potentially to areas of conflict. Linguists who will test at the Senior or Expert level will be assigned to travel duty according to their preference. (9) Must be a US citizen.

Translator/Linguist


ProSol seeks Translators, Interpreters and Comprehensive Linguistics Analysts to support the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency. Candidates will be required to translate, interpret and/or analyze collateral materials such as pre-recorded audio, videos, and other printed materials and documents.

Responsibilities:

Candidates are required to translate, interpret and/or analyze collateral materials such as pre-recorded audio, videos, and other printed materials and documents.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
  • Collecting, translating and interpreting mission related data
  • Analyzing data and cultural consulting
  • Supporting interviews and preparing related assessment reports
  • Title III monitoring and intercepting

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one year professional experience translating source documentation and multimedia
  • Ability to pass English language proficiency tests in 4 skill areas of listening, reading, writing and speaking, with a minimum score of 3.0. 
  • Federal & State Court Certified Interpreters are exempt from the testing requirement.
  • Strong proofing and editing skills in the English language

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Translation and transcription experience is required; previous title III translation experience is preferred.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident and lived in the US 3 out of the last 5 years

Language Skills & Proficiency:

  • Fluency in at least one of the following languages American Sign Language (ASL), Italian, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Serb-Croatian, Vietnamese, Dutch, Hindi, French, Lao, Thai, Tamil, Malayalam, Jamaican Patois and Farsi.
  • Required to pass language testing prior to beginning work
  • Foreign Language to English and English to Foreign Language.
